DIY Hanging Dish Towel

Today on a whim I decided to make a hanging dish towel!

My step-mother frequently gives us hanging dishtowels at Christmas that she crochets and I love them! I have little handles right in front of the sink and they hang perfectly there. This also means that I have Christmas towels in my kitchen well into spring. 🙂 So today, since I had to pull my sewing machine out to finish a long overdue ring sling, I decided to whip one up real quick!

Here is a perfectly simple pattern that I found online to make you own hanging dish towel. I just grabbed one of my plain blue dish towels and cut it in half and made this!

If you look closely you can see that the dishtowel is reinforced with two lines of stitching. This is important! My second favorite thing about these are for the boys to dry their hands after washing them before and after dinner time. They practically hang on them!

Don’t you just love this? I’m keepin’ it real folks! Spent the last hour sewing a hanging dish towel while the sink is full of dishes. LOL Oh and then I sat down at the computer to write this! Man I just love procrastination! I think I will organize my cookie cutters next! 😉 And of course I will have to pull out my new silhouette to make cute labels!

I’m going to try and knit a hanging piece for the other half of the dish towel soon. I’m thinking this will be a good pattern to try. I’ll try and remember to post that too when I’m done!
