Liquid Sidewalk Chalk, Foam Shapes & Other Awesome Toddler Activities

This past week was definitely one of the craftier weeks Noah and I have had. This has been largely due to our fun adventures in pottytraining. I thought I would share two of the more successful craft activities we did as well as this super awesome link of 50 Toddler Activities.

This was probably the more creative of the two. It required more preparation but clean up was minimal.

Recipe:

1 Cup Cornstarch

1 Cup Water

Food Coloring

Its pretty simple, I just grabbed a Tupperware container and mixed the cornstarch and water together. Then I grabbed the muffin tin and 1/4 measuring cup and divided up the mixture. Remember to leave one white!! 🙂

To prevent staining I would recommend using only a small amount of food coloring. I used some Wilton gels and the colors were super vibrant. Next time I’m at the craft store I’m going to pick up their set of primary colors.

We painted on concrete and it all washed away with no problem. I grabbed the hose and sprayed off the concrete and then Noah as well! A friend of mine used it on her porch and it washed easily too.

Fun With Foam Shapes

Foam Shapes Toddler Activity
Fun With Foam Shapes!!

The initial setup for this was a little tedious because I was cheap and just bought a package of foam sheets and cut out all the shapes myself, but they are reusable

so I won’t have to do that again. Also, if you know anyone with a die cut machine, you could really have some fun. 🙂 They do make precut foam shapes, numbers, and letters. I even saw some at the grocery store the other day!

All you do is grab another container and put maybe an 1/8 cup of water in the bottom and throw in some shapes. Once they’re wet they will stick to windows and mirrors. Let the fun begin!!

For what it’s worth…. I have found that since we have started doing one structured activity a day, schedule permitting, Noah doesn’t whine or fuss as much. I think he was getting bored with me!!!

Hope you and your toddler have as much fun as Noah and I did!!
