Potty Training is Crappy

Ha ha ha ha ha, I will never get tired of all the fun poop puns. LOL

So would you like to know how our potty training is going????

THIS is how it has been going lately.

I find Noah sitting on the floor, toes in his hands with his face turning red.

“Noah, do you need to go potty?”

“Noooooooooo, mommy. No potty!”

“I will give you some candy if you go poo poo in the potty!”

“Nooooooooo, mommy. No poo poo!”

“Noah, you are going to have to go poo poo and it might as well be in the potty.”

“Bye Bye Mommy, bye bye”

Potty Training Tips and Tricks
This was a quick capture the moment photo taken with my phone. He managed to put on TWO pairs of underwear and then put the third on his head and ran around our bedroom for at least 15 minutes like that! LOL

Sigh. Thanks to the Miralax that he gets on a daily basis he has pretty much stopped holding in his poop. But if I cut back on the dose or forget too often he reverts back. It hasn’t gotten as bad as at Christmas, but it’s still just as annoying. Luckily, I have gotten much better at remembering.

I have noticed that he is developmentally in a much better place. He can get his clothes on and off and his teacher at his school says that he is doing great going potty at school. She takes him to go with the other kids and if he has to go he will. We just can’t get him to let us know when he needs to go. Well, that’s not true. The other day he came running into the room exclaiming, “Mommy, I go pee pee in potty??” So I jumped up and said “Yeah let’s go!!” And we sat there for 30 minutes, him watching Disney Jr on my phone and me sitting on the floor with my laptop- for nothing. Fun.

We have had successes and I think he is getting much closer to really getting the hang of this. We took the changing table off of his dresser a few weeks ago and now he is strictly in pull ups, except I put a regular diaper on him for overnight. We also pull out his big boy underwear every now and then and talk about how once he starts going poo-poo and pee-pee in the potty he will be able to wear these all the time.

I have decided to revisit the extreme methods of Dr. Rosemond again this summer. I’m waiting for a nice quiet week where we have nothing going on and he is going to wear his big boy underwear around the house. I really think that when he starts peeing and it runs all down his legs he might start to understand it a little more. We will still use pull ups when we leave the house and at night, but mostly when at home I want him to HAVE to go to the potty.

That’s where it all stands. My goal is, and I’m kind of crazy for putting this out there, but I want to have him in big boy underwear during the days by the end of the summer. I’m sure I will look back on this post in September and have a real good laugh, but hey, you gotta have goals, right!?
