Super Baby Food & Noah’s 11 Month Eating Schedule

This post is a twofer. I am going to give a brief review of this wonderful book that was recommended by my pediatrician when Noah started eating solid foods and I am going to share Noah’s current eating schedule!

Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron

This has been a wonderful book for us. I was lost when faced with what to feed Noah when he turned 6 months old. I wanted to start at 4 months, but our pediatrician was pretty big on waiting until 6 months. She also recommended we get Super Baby Food. If you are going to make your own baby food then this book is a must have! But even if you aren’t it is great at helping you make sure that your baby gets all the nutrients he or she needs. It even suggests a sample feeding schedule for each month! I loved this, nothing frustrated me more than trying to figure out if Noah was nursing enough, and then getting enough formula and how often etc. This book helped take a lot of the guess work out of that. It also provides lists each month of what foods to introduce. Apparently it is better to wait until babies are older before feeding them certain foods, allowing their digestive systems to mature and prevent food allergies from occuring.

My favorite suggestion from the book is batch cooking and freezing food. It is awesome. Every week or so I batch cook some type of food and seperate it into seperate zip lock bags and store it in the freezer, yesterday it was carrots. This way I can either take different foods out the night before and keep them in the fridge to thaw, or if I forget, which is often, I just throw them in the microwave on defrost for about a minute. I pretty much only do this with veggies and I buy the bags of frozen fruit. I know that fresh fruit is better, and we do give Noah fresh bananas, but the rest of the fruit goes bad before he can eat it all, so in order to prevent waste, we buy it frozen!

There is really so much information in this book, and there is a lot more on their website SuperBabyFood.com.
