Shhhhhhh……. I’m Cheating on Pinterest

Houzz vs. Pinterest
Me and Pinterest have been hot and heavy lately. I’ve needed my space here and there and I’m sure she’s felt neglected, but I’ve never stayed away long. And in case you’re wondering, yes Pinterest is my lesbian lover. I mean, come on now, it HAS to be female. Nothing that hot and trendy and helpful could ever be male!

But, alas, I have met someone else. Allow me to introduce you to Houzz.

If you asked him he would tell you that he is “the easiest way for people to get the design inspiration, project advice, product information and professional reviews they need to help turn ideas into reality.” and he’s right! He will never be able to replace Pinterest. She satisfies all my needs. But when it comes down to it, he’s giving me what I need right now. He’s sexy, simple, uncomplicated. Mostly I love his style options. I can find exactly what I want with only pushing a few buttons. With Pinterest I have to finesse her and you never know what you’re going to find, which most often is a good thing because it’s generally better than what you were looking for in the first place. But with Houzz when I know what I want and I want it now, he’s my guy!!

Like today for instance, I picked out this table for our kitchen and I want to get ideas of what decor would look good with it.

I went to Houzz clicked on the Kitchen tab and then Eat In Kitchens and typed in the term “farm house” and I found a ton of awesome photos! I was able to save the ones I liked to an ideabook (below). Ideabooks are like pin boards.

I’m in love, for the time being anyways. I know I could have searched something similar on Pinterest and come up with some great photos, but then I would have found a tutorial for how to make these flower pots and then I would have started searching for what kind of plants to put in these pots and before I knew it, it would be 2AM and I would be pinning awesome spring clothing ideas!

On a somewhat related note. We have been in Atlanta for almost a year now!!!! I can’t believe it. Time has moved so fast! That means our lease is almost up. So it’s time to tinkle or get off the potty! We are either going to buy the house we are in or find another one to buy. We have been nomads too long!!! I kind of hope we stay here. I love our home and I just don’t think I can paint over another nursery. It was so hard painting over Noah’s. Seriously though, that navy blue wall was a bitch to paint over. And! We just finished Bryce’s! He’s only been using it for almost 5 months now! Those little sheep deserve to hang around for at least a couple more years! I guess we will just have to wait and see.
